Halloween Treats
Did you know that soon you will be able to access your own health care information – x-rays, tests, and so on – on the web? Gregor McWalter and Susan Anderson will describe the Provincial Patient Health Portal, just one of the many interesting presentations and demonstrations we have planned. A total of 27 speakers will provide a wide ranging view of how internet technology is being used today and some of the issues and challenges we face.
In the Education session, teachers from Grande PrairieCollege and students from Hinton will show how you can take university transfer courses without leaving home. Small Business operators from the Special Areas will talk about the role of the internet in their businesses. A stroke survivor will talk in the Health session about how videoconferencing saved her life. Leslie Warren, the Economic Development officer for VulcanCounty will describe their VIP – Vulcan Innovation Project – and the benefits it is bringing to their Community. And of course, no discussion of rural broadband would be complete without a discussion of the frustrations of the “first / last mile” issue.
