Kevin Edwards is married to Leah, his lovely and wonderfully
supportive wife of 20 years. They have two grown children who are now
raising their own young families. Kevin is happy to report that his
wife, children and grandchildren are all much finer people than he
could ever hope to be.
Kevin is currently serving his fourth term on Three Hills Town
Council, and his second term as Mayor. It has been an extremely active
time of rapid growth for Three Hills; the town's taxable assessment
has nearly doubled, the largest capital projects in the town's history
have been constructed, new comprehensive internal planning and
development processes are in place, and a twenty-year sustainability
planning exercises is complete. As Mayor, Kevin also played a role in
securing a $1.5 million grant from Rural Alberta's Development Fund
for creating Virtual Learning and Business Centre (VLBC) ClicSites in
partnership between the Three Hills Library and Hanna Learning Centre.
This was the first project funded by the RADF.
Kevin has been writing his own paycheck for nearly thirty years as a
small business operator. He and Leah presently own a small commercial
job printing business. Kevin was named 2006 Eco-Councillor of the year
by the Gallon Environment Letter for his leadership role in
establishing an Integrated Sustainability Plan for Three Hills. He has
presented at AUMA and FCM conferences on the Sustainability Plan; only
a handful of communities in Alberta have adopted similar plans. Kevin
was asked to be Project Director for the VLBC ClicSite project, and
has presented on the project at more than a dozen workshops and
conferences. Recently, he was elected to the board of Volunteer
Alberta and looks forward with special interest to this new area of
service.
